Tour 1: SAFARI TOUR TO WAZA NATIONAL PARK (4 days/ 3 nights)

This is the most popular tour organized by CAMTOURS. It is a 4 days/3 nights tour and can start in Douala or Yaoundé as follows:

Day 1: Douala/Yaoundé-Maroua

Board a morning Camair-co flight to Maroua, the capital city of the Extreme North region of Cameroon. Arrive little before mid-day and airport assistance by our local agents. After lunch, transfer by road the Waza national park; dinner and overnight at the Waza lodge.

Day 2: Waza national park

Whole day safari in the Waza national park which is probably the best place in Central Africa to observe wildlife, and in late spring, when only a few waterholes remain, a constant parade of fabulous animals arrive in search of water and shade, finding moments of much needed relief from the blistering sun.

Wildlife such as giraffe, antelope, hyena, cheetah, warthog, elephants and lions abound in this park. A multitude of birds can be seen here, as both African and Palearctic migrants are attracted by the habitat. Some 397 species have been sighted, including raptors such as griffon vultures, eagles, goshawks and buzzards, flocks of cranes, storks and egrets, and many species of migrant ducks and waders. Overnight at the Waza lodge.

NOTE: This park is open to visitors throughout the year but the ideal period is from 15 November to mid June, the best time for viewing animals being from late march to April when the animals congregate at water holes for water.

Day 3: Waza national park-Oudjilla-Rhumsiki:

Drive after breakfast to another popular destination called Oudjilla. This hilltop Podoko village is some 72 km away from Waza. The particular feature here is the round thatched mudhuts. You will also visit the chief’s compound with his 50 wives and hundreds of children. Continue drive via the Koza hills and Mokolo to Rhumsiki in the Mandara mountains. Rhumsiki is the most touristic place in North Cameroon and a series of high imposing peaks. Places to visit are the crab sorcerer or fortune teller and the blacksmiths

Day 4: Rhumsiki-Maroua-Yaoundé/Douala:

Drive back to Maroua in time to board the mid morning flight back to Yaoundé and Douala.
