THE BEST OF CAMEROON AND TCHAD IN 14 DAYS

Day 1 Saturday: Arrive Ndjamena (TCHAD) by Air France flight from Paris; meet/greet and transfer to Méridien hotel**** for overnight.

Day 2 Sunday: NDJAMENA – DOUKOUYA – NDJAMENA – KOUSSERI

Visit the city of Ndjamena before transferring to Doukouya located some 60 km from Ndjamena. Attractions such as monkeys, hippopotamus, rocky landscape abound at Doukouya; drive back to Ndjamena and cross over to Kousseri for overnight at Hotel de la Paix*

Day 3 Monday: KOUSSERI – LAKE TCHAD REGION – KOUSSERI – WAZA NATIONAL PARK

Very early morning drive to Blangoua near the Lake Tchad from where you board a boat to visit the market of Kofia an island in lake Tchad. Return after visit to Kousseri and drive down to the Waza national park for overnight at the Waza lodge.

Day 4 Tuesday: WAZA NATIONAL PARK

Whole day safari in the park. This park has a surface area of 1,700 square kilometres and it is the best and most visited national park in Cameroon. Wildlife such as giraffe, elephants, many species of antelope, lion,warthog, cheetah, waterbuck, topi, red-fronted gazelle, domilesque, hartebeest, buffalo, baboon, monkey, abound.. Bird watchers could view eagle, hornbill, pelican, duck, goose, heron, marabou, guinea-fowl and many other rare species. Overnight Waza lodge.

Day 5 Wednesday: WAZA – OUDJILLA – MAROUA

Drive after breakfast to Oudjilla; this Podoko hill top village. Here, the round thatched mud houses are a distinctive feature. Visit the Oudjilla chief’s palace with his over 50 wives and hundreds of children. Return to Maroua and visit the local market and particularly the art market. Overnight at Hotel de la Porte Mayo**

Day 6 Thursday: MAROUA – MOKOLO – TOUROU – RHUMSIKI

Drive after breakfast to Rhumsiki in the Mandara mountains via Mokolo and Tourou at the Nigerian/Cameroon border. The Tourou market is very picturesque with women wearing carved calabashes on their heads which look like army helmets with various designs showing their marital status. Continue to Rhumsiki; overnight at the Rhumsiki lodge.

Visit the village of Rhumsiki, especially the crab sorcerer and the coppersmith at Amsa. Over night at Rhumsiki lodge.

Day 7 Friday: RHUMSIKI – MAROUA – YAOUNDE

Drive to Maroua in time to board the plane bound for Yaoundé; meet/greet and transfer to hotel; afternoon city tour before dinner and overnight at Hotel de la Porte Mayo**

Meet/greet and transfer to Franco hotel****. Afternoon city tour of Yaoundé.

Day 8 Saturday: YAOUNDE – BAFOUSSAM – KOUTABA

Drive to the region of the western chiefdoms of Cameroon. Our first stop is at Bandjoun, one of the biggest chefferies of the Bamileke chiefdoms. Here you visit the palace museum and the round house before driving through Bafoussam, the capital city of the West province to Koutaba, this small locality before Foumban. Dinner and overnight at Paradise hotel*

Day 9 Sunday: KOUTABA – FOUMBAN – BAMENDA

Drive to Koutaba (15km), visit the palace of the sultan of the Bamoun people with its rich historic museum and later, the craft village. Drive to Bamenda via Koutaba and Bafoussam. Visit road attractions such as the Sunday Foumbot foodstuff market and the Metche waterfalls. Over night at Ayaba hotel**.

Day 10 Monday: BAMENDA – BAFUT – DSCHANG

Excursion to Bafut to visit the Fon’s palace with its very rich museum. Here, local traditional dances could be performed for your entertainment.

Drive later to Bamenda, visit the local market and the craft shops before continuing to Dschang in the West province. Overnight at the Centre Climatique de Dschang*

Day 11 Tuesday : DSCHANG – BUEA – LIMBE

Visit craft shops before driving down the ‘falaise’ through coffee plantations, banana plantations, oil palm and rubber plantations before arriving Buea, the former capital of Cameroon during German colonial rule. Visit old German buildings such as Von Puttkammer’s lodge, old administrative buildings, German burial ground, etc before driving down to sea side town of Limbe. Overnight at FINI hotel***

Day 12 Wednesday: LIMBE – DOUALA – KRIBI

Visit the Limbe wildlife centre with its big variety of animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees, drills, mandrills, red-capped mangabeys, crocodiles, snakes, duikers, etc. Immediately after the wildlife centre, you shall visit the very rich botanical gardens before driving through Douala to

Kribi, the best sea side resort town of Cameroon. Dinner and overnight at the Résidence Jully hotel***

Day 13 Thursday: KRIBI

Visit the Lobe waterfalls which are famous because they fall directly into the ocean; later take a boat ride on the Lobe river to visit a pygmy settlement. Afternoon at leisure on the sandy beaches of Kribi. Overnight.

Day 14 Friday : KRIBI – DOUALA – Fly out

Whole day at leisure. Afternoon drive to the Douala international airport to board return flight to Paris. END OF TOUR

Day 4: GAROUA – RHUMSIKI

Drive to Rhumsiki in the Mandara mountains after visiting the Kola gorges. In Rhumsiki, visit the crad sorcer and the coppersmith; dinner and overnight in Rhumsiki lodge.

Day 5: RHUMSIKI-MAROUA-DOUALA-LIBREVILLE

After breakfast, drive to Maroua, the capital city of the Extreme North region and transfer to the airport for departure flight to Douala; connect flight to Libreville, Gabon. Airport assistance and transfer to your hotel, the Laïco Okoume Palace hotel. Dinner and overnight .

Day 6: LIBREVILLE – LAMBARENE

Transfer to Lambarene, stop at the Equator line at Oyane III. Installation at Les Sirenes hotel.

After lunch,city tour of Lambarene, especially the Schweitzer hospital and the city museum; dinner and overnight at Les Sirenes hotel.

Day 7: LAMBARENE – LIBREVILLE

Transfer to lakes Zile and Evaro by boat and return to Les Sirenes for lunch and later transfer to Libreville. Dinner and overnight at Okoume Palace hotel.

Day 8: LIBREVILLE – DOUALA

City tour of Libreville, the Leon Mba mausoleum, the handicraft centre, the St Michel’s church and others. Transfer to the airport in time to fly to Douala; airport assistance and drive to Limbe in the South West region of Cameroon. Visit the botanic garden and the wildlife center; visit the lava flow site deposits of the 1999 eruption of Mount Cameroon. Return to the Seme New Beach hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 9: LIMBE-BUEA-DOUALA

Departure. Pickup in the morning after breakfast and drive up to Buea to visit old German colonial structures before driving back to Douala airport for departure.
